A short interview by the Illinois News Bureau and a new and timely issue of Radical History Review co-edited by Dr. A. Naomi Paik examine concerns around policing and justice

In line with Dr. A. Naomi Paik's ongoing research and work surrounding abolition, the most recent edition of Radical History Review, Policing, Justice, and the Radical Imagination, questions the necessity of a police force that enforces order through violence and envisions a world that moves past policing as we have known it throughout history. Dr. Paik served as a co-editor for the issue along with Drs. Amy Chazkel and Monica Kim, compiling a plethora of academic research, conversations, and reflections that deeply examine the actual role of policing in both historical and modern contexts, from medieval England to the 2019 Hong Kong protests.

The issue can be read for free here.

Dr. Paik also gave a short interview to the Illinois News Bureau, touching on topics of defunding and abolishing the police. The interview can be found here.
